As some of you probably know, last weekend was the first ever Scottish Young Carers' Festival. Well, we asked Rachael from the Highland Young Carers project to send us a report on how the festival went, especially for YCNet - and here it is:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We all left Morrisons at 2.30. There were 13 young carers and 2 leaders on the way there. I didn’t know many people there so we were very quiet and we were very bored, but when we go to Perth we stopped at McDonalds and got an ice-cream then we all started talking and mingling with people.
When we arrived at Broomlee Centre West Linton we got shown to our cabin, and there was no doors on our rooms - just curtains! Then we went to the chill out room and played a game after we went to our rooms and all laughed and joked around then we went to bed we didn’t go straight to sleep so we made a bit of a noise so we kept Frances and Kirsteen up most of the night then we went to sleep.
Saturday morning came and we went to breakfast I had to a bacon roll. We walked around until the festival started. When the opening ceremony started a funny man came on with some bad language. It eventually ended and we all rushed out to try some activities. We had loads of fun on the inflatables, the pole climb and lots more. Kirsteen and Frances went on the Flying Fox (a death slide). After loads of fun Saturday night came and we all went to our cabins and got ready for the disco. we had a really good laugh and two of our group started off the karaoke. I never did it. Afterwards we went back to our cabin and got ready for bed so we just sat together and took pictures. We went to sleep, morning came and we went for breakfast. I had cereal. After that we went and did some more activities then it was time to do the closing ceremony. The Red Hot Chilli Pipers were playing - they played a lot of songs then we all go on our minibus. When we got to Perth we go a K.F.C mmmmm yummy. We got to Morrisons so it was time to say goodbye. We had made good friends and we wish we had more time. It was a great experience. I would definitely go again.
